The Consumer Loan Underwriter underwrites consumer loans for quality, accuracy and completeness.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Regular onsite attendance
- Ability to work well with others in a team environment
- Provides accurate, efficient and exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers
- Maintains knowledge of bank regulations, security and compliance responsibilities, products, policies, procedures and meets deadlines
- Satisfactorily completes all training required for the position
- Verifies completeness of data on loan papers
- Evaluates applications for loans and makes decisions regarding whether to approve an applicant for financing
- Proficient in analysis, cash flow, credit reporting and knowledge of FICO credit scores
- Contacts loan originators to discuss financial information material to the decision making process
- Underwrites, evaluates and analyzes the financial statement/tax returns of a loan applicant
- Assembles documents for delivery to title company, real estate broker or lending officer for closing
- Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; one to three years related experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze and interpret loan documents. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, internal and external customers and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to interept a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
Computer Skills: Ability to perform strong computer skills and operate computer programs. Must have a demonstrated working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
