Afterschool/Summer Program Director
12 Months/Full Time (40 hrs/wk)
To lead the planning, development, and daily operations of engaging and enriching afterschool and summer programming that aligns with the mission, vision, and instructional goals of Andover Central School. The Coordinator will foster a safe and supportive environment for youth and staff, ensuring high-quality program implementation and continuous improvement informed by data analysis and in accordance with 21st Century Community Learning Center grant requirements. This role requires a collaborative leader dedicated to working effectively with teachers and staff to extend learning opportunities beyond the regular school day.
· Program Development and Implementation: Develop, plan, provide, and direct a diverse range of engaging activities for the youth program, ensuring alignment with Andover Central School’s mission, vision, and district instructional goals.
· Collaborative Partnerships: Collaborate closely with teachers, administrators, and other school staff to identify student needs, integrate afterschool programming with the regular school day curriculum, and support the overall educational objectives of the district.
· Daily Operations Management: Oversee all daily programmatic operations to ensure youth receive high-quality educational and support services in a safe and well-managed environment.
· Data-Driven Decision Making: Collect, analyze, and utilize program data to effectively manage the program, demonstrate results, inform program improvements, and contribute to data-driven decision-making within the school.
· Curriculum Enhancement: Promote quality programming by contributing to curriculum development and coordinating ongoing program improvement initiatives in alignment with district instructional goals.
· Program Evaluation: Assist in the evaluation of program results by providing leadership in all phases of program development and implementation processes, including data collection and evaluation.
· Continuous Improvement: Provide recommendations and implement ongoing program improvements to ensure positive outcomes for all participants.
· Reporting and Communication: Prepare comprehensive reports for partners, funders, leadership, and the school board, clearly articulating program activities, outcomes, and alignment with school goals.
· Team Leadership and Development: Lead, manage, and develop afterschool program staff, ensuring they possess the necessary skills and understanding of the school's mission and vision to effectively provide program services.
· Accountability and Best Practices: Maintain a strong culture of accountability regarding program standards, best practices, and outcomes to effectively recruit, retain, monitor, and support students and staff.
· Relationship Building: Foster positive relationships and effective communication with students, parents, school staff, and community partners.
· Professional Growth and Collaboration: Participate actively in professional development opportunities and school-wide activities, serving as a collaborative and engaged member of the Andover Central School team.
· Feedback and Recommendations: Provide valuable recommendations and feedback to school leadership on program changes, improvements, and new development projects that support the school's overall mission and vision.
· Classroom Management: Implement effective classroom management techniques to ensure a safe, positive, and productive environment for all youth and staff.
· Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned to support the successful operation of the afterschool program and the overall goals of Andover Central School.
Minimum Requirements:
· Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the New York State Board of Regents to grant degrees with an Associate’s degree and three (3) years of experience in program administration or management experience.
· Possession and retention of a valid driver’s license.
· In accordance with the Safe Schools Against Violence in Education (SAVE) legislation, Chapter 180 of the Laws of 2000, and by the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education, candidates for appointment in school districts must obtain clearance for employment from the State Education Department prior to employment based upon a fingerprint and criminal history background check.
Salary: Starting at $45,000 annually, with the understanding that years of relevant experience will be acknowledged and factored into the final salary determination.
