My Career and Academic Plan (MyCAP) is an initiative of the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). MyCAP is a comprehensive tool designed to help middle and high school students create personalized, actionable plans for their academic and career pathways. Its primary goal is to guide students in identifying their academic interests, career aspirations, and necessary skill development, while providing them with a clear roadmap for postsecondary success.
Responsibilities
To enhance the MyCAP initiative, we are currently in the process of assembling a MyCAP Leadership Team. This team will consist of a diverse cross-section of professional roles, including:
School Counselor- Teachers
- Parents/Caregivers
The team's responsibilities will include:
Creating a Scope and Sequence: The team will develop a structured curriculum that spans the middle and high school years, ensuring alignment with the three key domains of college and career readiness: Academic Preparation, Career Exploration and Personal/Social Development. In addition, committee members will help organize career speakers and/or a Career Day Expo.
By working collaboratively, this team will ensure that the MyCAP curriculum is comprehensive, inclusive, and adaptable to the needs of all students. The goal is to equip every student with the tools they need to make informed decisions about their future, both academically and professionally, and to help them successfully navigate their pathways to postsecondary education and careers.
