What are the responsibilities and job description for the Reading Specialist/Interventionist - AMS (25-26) position at Andover Public Schools?
- Licensed educator with a minimum of three years of teaching experience; reading specialist endorsement preferred
- Familiar with Kansas dyslexia recommendations and initiatives
- LETRS training preferred
- Experience with Kansas Multi-Tier System of Supports for Reading (MTSS) preferred
- Effective communication skills
- Strong time management skills
- Able to exhibit flexibility and respond to changing needs/priorities in a professional manner
- Ensure required universal reading screeners, diagnostics, and progress monitoring assessments are administered in a timely manner
- Facilitate data analysis meetings with classroom and special education teachers on a regular basis, and use Kansas MTSS Reading processes for grouping students for intervention instruction
- Provide reading intervention instruction to small groups of students using provided high-quality instructional materials with fidelity
- Support teachers who provide reading intervention instruction by identifying appropriate resources, providing training, and extending ongoing support
- Guide and support the implementation of structured literacy practices across the school in all disciplines to strengthen core tier 1 instruction, including the use of building-wide reading strategies
- Collaborate with building leadership to determine professional learning needs in the area of reading and literacy, including dyslexia
- Design and facilitate professional learning related to reading, literacy, and dyslexia
- Participate in ongoing professional learning and collaboration related to structured literacy and dyslexia
- Other duties as assigned.
