- Advocate, nurture, and sustain a school culture and instructional program conducive to student learning and professional learning.
- Responsible for designing and providing a virtual program where students have the opportunity to achieve academic success.
- Implements instructional activities and opportunities that contribute to a learning environment where students are engaged in a blended and online instructional model.
- Understand and demonstrate competence in content, student growth and development, learning styles, virtual instruction and management, communication, lesson planning assessment, reflection, and community.
- Promote the success of all students by facilitating the development, articulation, and implementation of a vision of learning that is shared and supported by the school community.
- Model collaborating with families and community members, responding to diverse community interests and needs, and mobilizing community resources.
- Recruits, hires, orients, trains, and evaluates the school’s professional staff.
- Follow all KSDE, Legislation and BOE policy and regulation. Including the oversight and completion of the virtual attendance audit.
- Oversee the special education process.
- Assists in the development, revision, monitoring, and evaluation of the building level implementation of the district curriculum.
- Provide instructional resources and materials needed to accomplish instructional goals.
- Establish clear expectations for staff performance with regard to virtual instructional strategies, management and communication.
- Foster collegiality and team building among staff. Encourage their active involvement in the decision-making process.
- Facilitate the school improvement process with alignment to district goals.
- Provide opportunities for interactive communication with district leaders, staff, students, parents, and community.
- Work with staff to develop a student discipline management system that results in positive student behavior and enhances the school climate.
- Ensure that school rules are uniformly applied and that student discipline is appropriate and equitable in accordance with the student handbook.
- Conduct conferences about student and school issues with parents, students, and teachers.
- Develop and manage school budgets based on documented program needs and estimated enrollment ensuring that operations are cost effective and funds are managed wisely.
- Maintains student records, registration, records grade, monitors student and staff attendance and participation in all technology, virtual and extended learning opportunities programs to improve effectiveness and efficiency.
- Coordinate the distribution of resources to students and staff.
- Oversee the onboarding of virtual students.
- In collaboration with online teachers and staff, evaluates student performance on a regular basis and provides feedback to students and parents
- Prepares and analyzes reports/data including registration, completion rates, progress/grades and survey results
- Coach staff and help them identify and develop appropriate professional growth opportunities as well as accomplish improvement goals.
- Work with district-level planning and decision-making committees to plan professional learning activities related to online teaching pedagogy, student engagement and strategies for teaching in the virtual setting.
- Work with staff to provide face-to-face opportunities for virtual students and families.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Assumes responsibility for the attendance, conduct, and maintenance of health of students.
- Maintain confidentiality as appropriate in order to comply with district, state and federal laws.
- Keeps the superintendent informed of the school's activities and problems.
- Prepares or supervises the preparation of reports, records, lists, and all other paperwork required or appropriate to the school’s administration.
- Complies with all district rules, regulations, and policies.
- Provides for adequate inventories of school property and for the security and accountability for that property.
- Delegates authority to responsible personnel to assume responsibility for the school in the absence of the principal.
