Responsibilities
- Assist patients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the well-being of patients.
- Monitor vital signs and report any changes in health status to healthcare professionals.
- Observe and document patient behavior and progress, ensuring accurate records are maintained.
- Support patients with mobility and physical exercises as directed by healthcare providers.
- Administer medications as prescribed and assist with medical equipment when necessary.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and social workers to develop individualized care plans.
- Engage patients in social activities to promote mental stimulation and emotional health.
Skills
- Experience in nursing home settings or assisted living facilities is preferred.
- Knowledge of hospice care practices is a plus.
- Strong patient care skills with an emphasis on patient observation and monitoring.
- Ability to understand and respond to the needs of individuals with autism or other developmental disabilities.
- Familiarity with taking vital signs and basic medical procedures.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
