Internship Summary :
STIHL Inc. has a full time opening for a Financial Accounting Intern in our Finance department.
The Financial Accounting Intern will gain an understanding of corporate accounting including financial reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, tax and financial analysis. The focus of the internship will be in the financial reporting and accounts payable areas. The intern will learn how to use SAP and more advanced Excel skills. They will be responsible for posting invoices, preparing and posting journal entries, analyzing general ledger accounts, shadowing finance teams and completing ad hoc projects. The intern will be participating in month-end and quarter-end closing processes that include financial statement preparation and review as well as reporting to Germany .
Internship Goals :
- Understand the monthly accounting cycle as it relates to STIHL locally in the US and globally in Germany. The intern will learn the closing timeline, inputs necessary, dependent variables and the review and reporting process.
- Learn SAP from a financial standpoint with a heavy focus on accounts payable and financial accounting. The intern will be able to trace transactions through the system and analyze the GL accounts for various balance sheet and income statement accounts. In their GL account review, they will learn various advanced Excel skills such as vlookups, pivot tables and other formulas that they will be able to use in the future.
- Learn about corporate finance as a whole. While the majority of their internship will be in accounts payable and financial accounting, the intern will receive an entry level perspective of the other accounting and finance departments at STIHL such as tax, accounts receivable, cost accounting, fixed assets inventory audit and financial planning and analysis. This is done by presentations, one-on-one shadowing and ad hoc projects.

Area of Study : Accounting
Preferred GPA : 3.0
Software Knowledge : Microsoft Office, with a basic understanding of Excel
