What are the responsibilities and job description for the Food Service Supervisor position at Andrew Residence?
Andrew Residence is currently hiring a full-time Food Service Supervisor to oversee our excellent team of Cooks and Food Service Workers under the guidance of our two Directors of Food Services!
Compensation:
- Starting at $26.00/hour, with a $0.50/hour increase after 90-days of successful service
- Candidates who are a Certified Dietary Manager are eligible to start at $28.00/hour with a $0.50/hour increase after 90-days of successful service
Schedule:
- 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM, Monday-Friday & every other weekend (with the preceding Friday and Monday off following the weekend worked)

Primary Food Service Supervisor Responsibilities:
- Provide ongoing supervision and support to Cooks and Food Service Workers throughout shift
- Serve as back-up coverage should a cook call-in, need to leave early, is running late, etc. to ensure an on-time and smooth meal service
- Monitor and audit temperature logs and cleaning schedules
- Collaborate with the Director of Food and Nutrition Services to ensure the menus comply with regulations and Andrew Residence nutritional requirements and ensure that staff prepare all meals in accordance to posted menu in a timely manner
- Order food in compliance with posted menu using inventory controls, ordering guides, and budget guidelines
- Manage staff schedule to ensure proper coverage is secured for planned time off
- Review menu concerns and document changes
- Train and evaluate staff members to ensure position responsibilities and professional competencies are being met
- Develop and implement food service policies and procedures ensuring regulatory and licensing compliance in coordination with the Director of Food and Nutrition Services.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- ServSafe Certification
- 2 years of supervisory experience
- 3 years of experience in quantity/batch cooking
- Ability to read and write in English
- Proficiency with computer software (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, EHR)
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to interact effectively with persons with mental illness diagnoses
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Dietary Manager (CDM)
- Experience working in healthcare with regulatory agencies
- Quantity/batch menu planning and ordering experience
- Knowledge of mental illness and needs of the population
COVID-19 considerations: PPE is provided to all employees and we follow the recommendations from MDH and the CDC. CDC guidelines for COVID-19 vaccination recommend that everyone stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccines including booster doses. COVID vaccination for Andrew Residence employees is not required, but is highly encouraged.
