10. Patient Care

· Coordinates patient-care activities with surgeons and anesthesia providers to provide continuity of patient care
· Assists OR Manager in identifying and solving nursing care problems
· Assists OR Manager to oversee all nursing activities during an emergency to verify that patient needs are met
· Participates in primary care of patients as needed and oversee surgical areas to verify that patients’ needs are met
· Assists OR manager to enforce the implementation of nursing practice standards and licensing and accreditation rules/regulations to provide quality patient care
· Recommends to OR Manager any revision in patient-care policies and procedures as necessary to conform to accepted principles and practices
· Respects patients’ right to privacy, dignity, and confidentiality
· Supervises care of the surgical/operating room area and the equipment to ensure cleanliness, sterility, and operational ability at all times
· Controls staff/patient traffic to help prevent infections
11. Daily Operations
· Coordinates and monitors operational activities for effective and efficient management of daily operation; runs the OR Board, reports deficiencies to the OR Manager
· Assists OR manager in preparing daily personnel assignments and delegates duties according to experience and skill level to provide quality patient care
· Assists in cross-training clinical staff to create a productive work environment for all clinical areas
· Coordinates scheduling procedures with scheduling personnel
· Assists the OR Manager in evaluating the performance of all clinical personnel and assessing and continuously improving the quality of care and services
· Observes performance of all clinical staff members and provides feedback to OR Manager
· Ensures that staff implement established facility policies and procedures
· Participates in designated committees
· Analyzes clinical documentation to ensure facility’s policies/procedures are followed
· Serves as a liaison among patients, families, nursing, and medical staff to coordinate quality patient care
· Check and respond to emails in a timely and efficient manner
· Promote professional, harmonious relations and favorable attitudes among the healthcare team
12. Materials Management
· Apply material management principles to establish procedures for use
· Promotes cost-effectiveness and implements procedures to control waste
· Monitors the care and cleaning of equipment to maintain proper working conditions
· Assist clinical director to identify and evaluate need for items relative to trends and physician requests
· Reviews inventory for availability of supplies and equipment necessary to meet patient needs
· Oversees inventory, maintaining adequate supplies and equipment and providing for their economical use
Required
1. High school diploma or GED certificate; BS or BA degree preferred
2. RN with active license in appropriate state
3. ACLS and CPR certification
4. Minimum 1 year Healthcare supervisory experience preferred
5. Evidence of leadership qualities
6. Strong ethical and moral character references
7. Language skills adequate for high-level written, interpersonal, and telephone communication in American English
