Summer counselors at Andrews Academy have the opportunity to guide and assist campers explore a wide range of S.T.E.A.M. (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics) focused experiences. From ancient civilizations to the future to come, engineering to architecture, performing arts to sports and recreation; Andrews Academy Summer Program allows campers and counselors alike to investigate many unique and engaging topics.
Andrews Academy is looking for energetic, committed counselors to fill roles as: Grade Level Counselors, S.T.E.A.M Leaders in robotics, music, sports, engineering, outdoor experiences.
Our 10 week summer program runs Monday through Fridays from June 2 - August 8 with staff orientation from May 27-30. Administration strives to meet time off requests for all staff members. Camp hours are from 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 pm allowing for shift flexibility.
Ideal candidates should have experience or interest in working with children, interest in one or more S.T.E.A.M. area, and a willingness to participate alongside our campers.
All applicants must be 18 years old by June 2, 2025.
Responsibilities
- Effectively supervise and actively engage with campers during scheduled activities
- Implement and facilitate daily schedules and programs that promote engagement and fun.
- Committed focus on fostering camper personal growth and social skills.
- Ensure the safety of all campers by adhering to safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Assist in managing behavior effectively using techniques from classroom management or behavior management practices.
- Collaborate with fellow counselors to create a cohesive team atmosphere.
Requirements
- Experience in tutoring, babysitting, or daycare settings is preferred.
- Knowledge of first aid and CPR certification is a plus.
- Background in special education or sports coaching is advantageous.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to educate and inspire children.
- Ability to manage groups effectively while maintaining a fun atmosphere.
- Must be enthusiastic, patient, and possess excellent communication skills.
- A commitment to fostering an inclusive environment for all campers.
