POSITION OVERVIEW
The Executive Director serves as the executive officer of the Andrews Chamber of Commerce, acting as the primary representative and advocate for local businesses and the community. This role involves strategic planning, financial management, member engagement, supervision of the part-time Event Coordinator, community outreach, and facility upkeep to promote economic growth and enhance the quality of life in Andrews, NC.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership and Strategic Planning:
· Develop and implement strategic plans to advance the Chamber’s mission and objectives.
· Provide visionary leadership to staff, volunteers, and the business community.
· Advise the Board of Directors on policy, strategy, and organizational matters.
· Supervise and provide direction for the part-time Event Coordinator.
Financial Management:
· Prepare and manage the annual budget; ensure financial stability and integrity.
· Spearhead fundraising efforts, including securing sponsorships and grants.
· Maintain accurate financial records and provide regular reports to the Board.
Membership Development:
· Recruit new members and retain existing ones by demonstrating the value of Chamber membership.
· Develop and implement programs and services that benefit members.
· Facilitate regular communication with members to address their needs and concerns.
Event Coordination and Supervision:
· Collaborate with and supervise the Event Coordinator to ensure the successful planning and execution of Chamber events.
· Support sponsorship and partnership efforts to fund events.
· Ensure events align with the Chamber’s mission and provide value to members and the community.
Facility and Maintenance:
· To maintain a welcoming and professional office environment, perform light cleaning tasks as needed, including vacuuming, mopping, and bathroom cleaning.
Advocacy and Community Relations:
· Represent the Chamber with local government, businesses, and community organizations (such as the Cherokee County Tourism Development Authority).
· Advocate for policies and initiatives that support business development and community well-being.
· Serve as the public face of the Chamber, promoting its mission and activities.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, public relations, or a related field (preferred), or equivalent experience.
· Proven experience in business, nonprofit, or membership-based leadership roles.
· Experience supervising employees or volunteers.
· Strong financial management skills, including budgeting and fundraising.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Proficiency in using the following software is required: Microsoft Office Suite, QuickBooks Online, Google Docs, Social Media Platforms, and WordPress (experience with MailPoet is a plus).
· Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups and build strong relationships.
· Knowledge of the local business environment and community is a plus.
