Function
The NJROTC Program is conducted to provide students an opportunity to learn the basic elements of national security and their personal obligations as Americans. Promote patriotism; develop informed and responsible citizens; develop respect for constituted authority; personal home, self-reliance, individual discipline and leadership; promote habits of orderliness and precision; and develop knowledge of the Military Services as a possible career.
Qualification
- Certified by the U.S. Navy as an instructor in the NJROTC Program.
- Maintain physical and appearance standards set by the U.S. Navy.
- Physically qualified to participate in military drill and military activities/ ceremonies.
Performance Responsibilities
- Teaches a multi-subject four-year curriculum.
- Instructs in military drill.
- Requisitions government equipment.
- Maintains government furnished uniforms.
- Surveys and disposes of worn and obsolete equipment.
- Performs preventative maintenance of Navy furnished materials.
- Plans and conducts extracurricular activities.
- Keeps abreast of new developments in the Navy.
- Establishes rapport with counselors and teachers.
- Makes annual presentations to feeder schools on program.
- Contacts civic groups to promote program.
- Counsels students.
- Attends Navy seminars to keep abreast of new developments.
- Takes courses to improve teaching abilities.
- Performs other tasks with reasonable accommodations as assigned by the supervisor.
