Primary Purpose:
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in AUTOMATION designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree, associate’s degree, or high school diploma/GED and equivalent wage-earning experience as required by certification
Valid Texas career and technical education certificate with required license, endorsements, and training for subject and level assigned, or related training and work experience for certification waivers under the District of Innovation Plan (DOI)
Demonstrated competency in the career and technical education subject area assigned
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of career and technical education subject assigned
General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
Ability to oversee student field experiences in career area assigned
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Strategies
- Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district’s curriculum program, reflect accommodations for learning style differences, and show written evidence of preparation as required.
- Present content according to the guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
- Collaborate with staff to determine instructional goals, objectives and methods according to district requirements.
- Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
- Collaborate with local public and private institutes of higher education.
- Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
- Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
- Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s).
Student Growth and Development
- Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
- Be a positive role model for students, support mission of school district.
Classroom Management and Organization
- Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
- Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Communication
- Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
- Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
- Encourage parents to support student learning.
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
- Adhere to the district’s organizational chart in communication with all constituents.

Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions and deadlines; frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing. Occasional: Lifting and carrying 10-25 pounds frequently, 25-40 pounds occasionally, more than 45 pounds infrequently with assistance; Pushing/pulling 10-35 pounds sporadically; May be required under specific circumstances to provide physical restraint of students in danger of causing harm to themselves or others
Environmental Factors:
Frequent exposure to: temperature extremes (hot and cold), humidity extremes, house. Occasional exposure to: biological hazards (communicable diseases, bacteria, insects, mold, gundi, etc.)
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the principal in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy. Evaluation will be completed in accordance with regulations and procedures of the Texas Teacher Appraisal System.
