What are the responsibilities and job description for the STERILE PROC TECHNICIAN (evening shift) position at ANDREWS INSTITUTE ASC LLC?
Must be available to work evening shift 3p-11p. The Sterile Processing Technician utilizes surgical instrumentation knowledge to provide the correct instruments for the operating room and other procedural areas. This position works to disassemble, clean, sterilize, and store procedure trays, instruments, and supplies. This position collaborates with the operating room staff to ensure the availability and sterility of instrumentation to meet the requirements of posted surgical cases.

10. Duties
- Under the direction of the Sterile Processing Supervisor, properly sterilizes and prepares surgical instruments for all cases at the scheduled surgery times
- Operates sterilizers and ability to complete daily check which includes recording temperature, pressure and recording time of test loads
- Updates surgical instrument tray lists
- Initiates repairs on surgical instruments, as needed
- Practices Infection Control and Universal Precautions, as per policy
- Restocks workstations at end of every workday
- Carries out routine and assisted tasks of inspecting case carts, instruments, and supplies; and storing the items in the appropriate place in SPD
- Performs all responsibilities/duties required by the sterile processing department as defined in the scope of service to ensure that the unique nature of the client is addressed
- Maintains current knowledge/certifications/licensure
- Checks and respond to emails in a timely and efficient manner
- Performs other duties as assigned
- High school diploma or GED certificate recipient
- BLS for healthcare providers – American Heart Association
- Must have sufficient reading ability to read safety instructions and chemical product labels.
- Must be able to follow written and oral instructions
Preferred
- ASC experience
- 1-3 years of Sterile Processing experience in an operating room setting
- Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST)
- Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS)
- Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER)
