GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Reporting to the Plant Superintendent, the Grinder Operator must perform a skilled level of work in the grinding of a compounded rubber stock, polyurethane, and composite that is applied to a customer's roll. The Grinder Operator is required to monitor the progress of the grinding to ensure that the roll meets the correct diameter that the customer's roll requires. Assignments are received in the form of tickets that are on the schedule board and the plant factory order. Work methods and procedures are determined by company policy. On-the-job training will be provided that meets these specification and requirements, and the employee is expected to maintain these standards after completion of training period.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
Essential Functions:
- Basic knowledge of grinder operation.
Knowledge of:
- Job related materials.
- The tools, materials, methods, and standard practices of grinders.
- The hazards and safety precautions of operating moving equipment.
- Basic computer skills for programming grinder.
- Knowledge to operate an overhead crane.
Ability to:
- Read and understand a plant factory order.
- Remain in a standing position for extended periods of time.
- Understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions in English language.
- Learn job-related material primarily through oral instruction and observation. This learning takes place mainly in an on-the-job training setting.
- Work cooperatively with other employees.
- Work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others.
- Controlled manipulation of a large piece of equipment.
- Coordinate the movement of more than one limb simultaneously.
- Bend or stoop repeatedly or continually over time.
Additional Requirements
- Some positions will require the performance of other essential and marginal functions depending upon the work location, assignment, or shift.
- Overtime hours requested but not mandatory.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort:
- Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
- Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 50lbs or standing and/or walking for more than eight hours per day.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: On the job training will be provided since the grinding process can vary due to product requirements and production environment.
- Languages: English
