Job Overview of Residential Crisis Worker
The Triage / Response staff is responsible for maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment by supporting the children and staff so that programming takes place with minimal disruption. With the direction and support of the Administrators on Duty, the Triage and Response Staff provides support direct care staff with children who become dysregulated during routines and programming. The staff members utilize their de-escalation techniques while remaining committed to the Sanctuary commitments. They are also designed to support, offer feedback and coaching to direct care staff dealing with (potential) crisis situations. These team members are expected to develop a relationship with the residents and fellow direct care staff to offer unified therapeutic services and milieu.
HOURS of Residential Crisis Worker : Tuesday thru Saturday, 2 : 00 PM until 10 : 00 PM
Essential Duties of Residential Crisis Worker
Key duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following :
- Understanding and supporting the agency’s mission & treatment philosophy.
- Treats all children, families and co-workers with respect & courtesy.
- Demonstrates & models sensitivity to cultural background of children, families and co-workers.
- Honors Sanctuary Commitments and uses Sanctuary Tools in all day to day activities
- Safely manages all aspects of job responsibilities.
- Knows and complies with agency standards regarding therapeutic crisis intervention and restraint.
- Provides children with level appropriate supervision at all times.
- Maintains a safe & hazard–free work area. Effectively monitors facilities & equipment for cleanliness and hazards. Raises concerns when appropriate.
- Manages program routines effectively.
- Adheres to school programming plan and routines.
- Provides guidance and assistance needed to help children maintain their clothing, personal hygiene and personal possessions in a neat, clean and orderly
- Manages treatment issues effectively
- Remains positively engaged with children at all times, throughout the work day.
- Avoids power struggles with children and provides continuous support and encouragement.
- Demonstrates understanding of the child’s issues and the role the 1 : 1 school aide plays in the child’s treatment plan
- Works effectively with others on the team.
- Is flexible and accommodating in unplanned or crisis situations.
- Seeks and accepts help and direction from full time staff.
- Actively participates in team discussions and cooperates follow through on plans.
- Develops teambuilding with assigned classrooms.
- Completes all paperwork requirements clearly, accurately and in a timely fashion.
- Completes critical incident reports as appropriate
- Completes facility work requests as necessary
- Supports overall strategic plan of the organization
- Ability to adhere to our organization's core values and commitments
