Job Overview
A development opportunity has arisen for a senior physiotherapist to work as part of a friendly and supportive team on a 21-bedded GP-led rehabilitation and complex discharge ward.
The post is based at Monnow Vale Health & Social Care Facility in the market town of Monmouth and, alongside ward-based work, will involve providing a follow-up service into the community which covers a large rural area.
The successful candidate will work alongside nursing and health care support staff, a dedicated ward social worker, an occupational therapist and a therapy technician.
As part of a wider integrated community team there are plenty of opportunities for shared training, shared working and support.
Main duties of the job
To provide a physiotherapy service to a 21-bedded GP-led, ward.
To provide physiotherapy assessment and intervention to people with a range of diagnoses and with rehabilitation and complex discharge needs.
To carry out complex assessments in moving and handling, specialist seating and bed positioning.
To attend and contribute to the weekly multi-disciplinary meeting and to family meetings.
To be person-centred at all times and to have a good understanding of the mental capacity act and how this impacts on assessment and intervention.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications

- Degree or Postgraduate Diploma in Physiotherapy
- HCPC
- Post-graduate experience of working with people with a range of diagnoses including dementia, neurological, orthopaedic and respiratory conditions

- Some specific training related to clinical area e.g. assessments for people with a range of diagnoses including dementia, neurological, orthopaedic and respiratory conditions
- Specialist knowledge and application of physiotherapy assessments and interventions relevant to intervention with people with a range of conditions
- Ability to analyse professional and ethical issues
- Application of health, safety and risk management policies
- Experience of building effective working relationships with a range of people
- Experience of working autonomously and setting own priorities
- Highly effective written and oral communication skills
- Ability to reflect on and critically appraise own performance and develop new methods of working
- The ability to travel within a geographical area to meet the requirements of the post.
- Commitment to client centred and non-discriminatory practice
