Summary
The Billing Manager (BM) is responsible for leading the billing team and overseeing all billing functions within the company. This role involves ensuring compliance with billing practices, managing staff, and collaborating with clinical teams to ensure accurate billing and collections. The Billing Manager plays a crucial role in achieving the organization's strategic goals and maintaining effective communication with various stakeholders and maintaining compliance with all federal and state regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Interacts with the Medical Records and the Clinical Staff as needed to ensure all clinical data on the billing system is input timely and accurately.
  • Manages the billing and credentialing staff in assigning specific workloads and responsibilities, especially as it relates to timely billing investigation, follow-up and problem resolution.
  • Identifies specific payor A/R problems offering exact causes, direction, and resolution avenues.
  • Communicates with manager about all accounts for uncollectible status to determine and obtain approval to write off accounts, if appropriate.
  • Monitor accounts receivable and implement strategies to reduce outstanding balances.
  • Address and resolve patient billing inquiries and issues promptly and professionally.
  • Posts payment using EMR system.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure a seamless patient experience regarding billing and payments.
  • Prepare and analyze billing reports, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
  • Work with third-party billing agencies to monitor that claims are being processed accurately and timely while also ensuring that denial claims are being amended for processing.
  • Stay updated on changes in healthcare billing regulations and guidelines.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure accuracy and compliance in billing processes.
  • Keeps abreast of current literature and developments in the field and attends or completes required agency training.
  • Ensure all billing activities comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including HIPAA.
  • Contributes to the successful achievement of the organization's mission and strategic initiatives by providing leadership, oversight, evaluation and direction for the billing programs of the organization through planning, organizing and directing the various functions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Supervision Given
  • The Billing Manager will be responsible for overseeing the Billing Coordinator.
Supervision Received
  • The Billing Manager will be supervised by the Chief Executive Officer.
Education
  • An associate or bachelor’s degree in Medical Billing, Accounting, Business, or similar field with experience noted below is preferred.
Certification
  • None Required
Experience
  • Minimum of 2-3 years in a supervisory role and 3-5 years working experience in medical/behavioral health billing. Must have at minimum 2 years of behavioral health experience or knowledge of behavioral health billing codes and credentialling requirements.
Background
  • Must pass all Federal and State background checks. Other background checks will be conducted for licensures and certifications according to company policy.
Schedule
  • Full-Time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM., Hybrid Position
Benefits
  • This position is eligible for Medical Benefits, Dental Benefits, Vision, and Voluntary Benefits, Paid Time Off, and Paid Holidays.

The pay range for this role is:
65,000 - 80,000 USD per year(Ohio)
