Summary
The Nurse plays a critical role in delivering high-quality healthcare by conducting health appraisals, monitoring client conditions, and assisting in treatment plans as directed by nurse practitioners and physicians. This position requires a compassionate approach to patient care, ensuring that clients receive comprehensive support in managing their physical health within the psychiatric specialty framework.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Complete health appraisals on clients upon admission and regularly throughout their course of care.
- Assist nurse practitioners and physicians as necessary to support effective patient outcomes.
- Evaluate, observe, and assess clients' physical conditions to identify health needs.
- Assist clients with treatment plans prescribed by nurse practitioners and/or physicians.
- Administer and monitor medications according to prescribed guidelines.
- Monitor client vitals and take prompt action as needed.
- Educate clients on prescribed medications, physical health, nutrition, and self-care practices.
- Coordinate care and services with pharmacies, other physicians, or referring agencies on behalf of clients.
- Respond promptly to nurse practitioner and physician orders.
- Communicate prescribed services and status updates to clients and their families in a timely manner.
- Participate in client care team meetings to enhance collaborative treatment efforts.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of medications prescribed and client interactions.
- Complete release forms or other medical paperwork as requested.
- Assist with medication refills on behalf of nurse practitioners or physicians.
- Ensure all client documentation is completed accurately and in a timely fashion.
Supervision Given
- This position does not supervise any staff.
Supervision Received
- The Registered Nurse reports to the Operations Manager
Education
- A degree in Nursing from an accredited educational institution is required.
Certification
- Individual NPI Number and Medicaid Provider Number will be required to start work (instructions on how to apply will be provided).
Experience
- Prior experience in a clinical setting, preferably in psychiatric nursing, is advantageous.
Background
- All applicants must submit to and pass a background check prior to hire.
Schedule
- Flexible scheduling depending on agency needs, typical of a contract position.
