Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse (RN) in a Long-Term Care Facility is responsible for delivering comprehensive and compassionate nursing care to residents, ensuring their medical, emotional, and personal needs are met. The RN will work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to create and implement individualized care plans, monitor patient health, and provide education and support to residents and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Care:

    • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care based on individual needs and medical conditions.
    • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
    • Monitor vital signs, symptoms, and overall health status of residents.
    • Document all aspects of patient care accurately and promptly in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Care Planning:

    • Develop and update individualized care plans in collaboration with residents, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
    • Set short and long-term goals for patient health and well-being.
    • Coordinate care with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Patient Education:

    • Provide education to residents and families about medical conditions, treatment plans, and care procedures.
    • Offer guidance on health management, medication adherence, and preventive measures.
  • Emergency Care:

    • Respond to medical emergencies and provide appropriate interventions.
    • Perform CPR and other life-saving techniques as needed.
  • Compliance and Quality:

    • Ensure that all care provided meets facility standards and regulatory requirements.
    • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and audits.
    • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
  • Team Collaboration:

    • Work closely with nursing assistants, therapists, and other team members to ensure coordinated care.
    • Participate in team meetings and contribute to care planning discussions.
  • Family Support:

    • Communicate effectively with residents' families regarding care, progress, and changes in condition.
    • Address family concerns and provide emotional support as needed.
  • Administrative Duties:

    • Manage and oversee nursing staff, including delegating tasks and providing guidance.
    • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of care and resident status.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution.
  • Licensure: Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri.
  • Experience: Previous experience in long-term care, geriatrics, or a similar setting preferred.
  • Skills: Strong clinical assessment skills, excellent communication abilities, proficiency in using EMR systems, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Certifications: BLS/CPR certification required
