Job Summary and Qualifications
The Patient Care Technician (PCT) delivers high-quality, patient-centered care by performing various delegated basic patient care services related to common nursing functions and activities of daily living under the supervision of the registered nurse (RN). The PCT assists the nursing staff in providing patient care in accordance with the PCTs skills/training and the needs of the Department, maintaining a clean, well-organized, and safe patient care environment.
You will do the following:
- Participate in the implementation of nursing care plans by performing direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of the licensed nurse.
- Obtain and record initial and ongoing patient information throughout the cycle of care, including admissions data, vital signs, height and weight, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, intake and output, calorie counts, and other patient information as outlined by policy.
- Assist with mobility by regular turning and positioning, dangling, and ambulating patients, assisting with walkers, crutches, canes, and wheelchairs, transferring patients, and discharging patients.
- Obtain or assist in the collection of specimens for diagnostic or waived tests, ensuring accuracy of all labels and timely transfer of specimen.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including eating and drinking, bathing, shaving, oral care, grooming, and elimination, changing bed linens as needed.
- Serve as Monitor/Telemetry Tech for the unit as needed.
- Engage in evidence-based best practices that enhance the patient experience, including SAFETY rounding, communication fundamentals/AIDET, Teach-Back, Narrating Care, etc.
Qualifications
You will need the following qualifications:
- Preferred Education: High School Diploma, GED, or Equivalent.
- Preferred Experience: 1 years of experience in an acute care setting.
- Required License: Current listing with Nurse Aide Registry as a Nurse Aide I.
- Certification: BLS.
