Position Overview
As a Counselor at Angel's Light Addiction Specialists, you will play a crucial role in guiding individuals through the process of recovery from drug and alcohol addiction. Working within our inpatient rehabilitation program, you will provide counseling, support, and education to clients and their families, helping them to develop the skills and strategies necessary for sustained sobriety.
Key Responsibilities
- Individual Counseling: Conduct one-on-one counseling sessions with clients to assess their needs, develop treatment plans, and provide ongoing support throughout the recovery process.
- Group Therapy: Facilitate group therapy sessions focusing on topics such as coping skills, relapse prevention, and interpersonal relationships, fostering a supportive and collaborative environment for clients to share their experiences and insights.
- Family Counseling: Work with clients' families to address the impact of addiction on familial relationships and provide education, support, and guidance to help families navigate the challenges of supporting their loved one's recovery.
- Treatment Planning: Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop comprehensive treatment plans tailored to each client's unique needs, goals, and circumstances, ensuring that treatment approaches are evidence-based and culturally sensitive.
- Educational Workshops: Lead educational workshops and seminars on topics related to addiction, recovery, mental health, and wellness, empowering clients with knowledge and skills to support their long-term sobriety.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records, including progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries, in accordance with facility policies and regulatory requirements.
- Crisis Intervention: Provide crisis intervention and support to clients experiencing emotional distress or relapse, utilizing effective de-escalation techniques and connecting clients with appropriate resources and support services as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
- Previous experience working in substance abuse treatment or mental health counseling preferred.
- Knowledge of evidence-based treatment modalities for addiction, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing (MI), and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT).
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish rapport and build therapeutic alliances with clients from diverse backgrounds.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex concepts in a clear and accessible manner.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality, ethical standards, and professional boundaries in all interactions with clients and colleagues.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed to accommodate client needs and program schedules.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
