What are the responsibilities and job description for the Behavioral Health Technician position at Angel's Light Halfway House?
Angel's Light Halfway House is a drug and alcohol treatment program licensed by the state to house 31 adult males.
Reports to: Facility Director
Responsibilities:
- Assist with intake process with new clients into program;
- Search client bags and person at the time of the admission and follows all intake procedures;
- Orientates new clients to the facility;
- Instructs and confirms the programs rules and regulations to new admissions;
- Assists in supervision of clients while completing hourly rounds to ensure safety and wellbeing;
- Ensures daily schedule is adhered to;
- Ensures clean linen and beds are changed;
- Utilizes personal vehicle for transportation of clients;
- Completes and forwards copy of Incident Reports and any other safety/risk issues to supervisor;
- Monitors and completes all urine drug screens as ordered;
- Build positive relationships with clients and staff;
- Provides a safe and therapeutic environment to all staff and patient;
- Recognizes, responds to crisis situations and provide the intervention necessary;
- Responds and assists in medical emergency situations as directed and needed;
- Communicates effectively with client and interdisciplinary team regarding client needs;
- Adheres to all program policies and procedures while ensuring client safety at all times;
- Communicates with staff either verbally or in written communication logs, responsible for detail client logs;
- Listens to clients concerning all areas of treatment, maintains safe, orderly, and therapeutic physical environment for clients including crisis intervention;
- Coordinates activities including groups and meetings;
- Mandatory bed checks conducted as required per schedule;
- Attends shift change, staff meetings and training;
- Ensures client schedule is being followed daily;
- Assisting with interventions with clients;
- Responsible for conducting searches of clients and their rooms;
- Monitors treatment for necessary hygiene and medical needs;
- Upholds Therapeutic Boundaries and Staff Code of Ethics;
- Evaluates behavioral and emotional needs of clients and provides input;
- Distributing client snacks as needed;
Qualifications and Skills:
High school diploma or GED
Must have excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to meet written communication requirements
Welcoming to all and ready to work with a dynamic and diverse team
Ability to establish trusting and therapeutic relationships
Commitment to recovery, choice, empowerment, and the ability of people with substance use disorders to find meaningful lives in the community
Must have valid driver license and clean driving record
Must have cell phone
Must be CPR/First Aid Certified (Can be obtained after hire)
Maintains communication in a professional manner
Must submit to a pre-employment, random, and for cause drug screen
Must pass a criminal background check as well as a child abuse history clearance
Must maintain a high level of dependability including attendance at work and punctuality
Preferred 1 year experience working in substance abuse treatment setting
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 28 – 40 per week
