We’re looking for a Spiritual Care Counselor who shares this vision.
As a Spiritual Care Counselor with Angela Hospice, you’ll have the opportunity to meet patients and family members of all ages and walks of life. You’ll have the ability to serve families of all faiths and spiritual backgrounds, assisting with spiritual concerns, family dynamics, reconciliation, anticipatory grief, and other issues surrounding illness and loss.
Your OpportunitiesConnect.- Work with other team members in support of the vision to provide exemplary spiritual care services to patients and families of Angela Hospice.
- Assist the Director of Supportive Care in supporting staff and volunteers in understanding and living the Angela Hospice Mission and Core Values.
- Experience a culturally diverse population with an endless range of spiritual and non-religious belief systems, demonstrating respect for individuals’ spiritual traditions.
- Minister and support patients and families in both the Care Center and Home Care program, all in accordance with the ongoing wishes of the patient/family.
- Coordinate spiritual enrichment activities for families and patients.
- Plan and participate in memorial services.
- Develop a pastoral care plan, based on ongoing assessment and working in collaboration with local clergy.
- Assess patient/family response to spiritual support intervention.
- Document spiritual support visits with patients and families in the Care Center and Home Care.
- Be available for staff counseling and grief support.
- Work with other professional staff and team members to resolve spiritual/pastoral/ethical issues (i.e., participate on the Ethics committee).
- Attend monthly general staff meetings and scheduled in-services.
- Provide coverage and support for fellow Spiritual Care team members as required.
- Engage and learn from peers and colleagues within the interdisciplinary team.
- Embrace opportunities to better expand your knowledge and expertise.
• A graduate of an accredited seminary required, Master’s degree in Divinity, Theology, Pastoral Ministry, or Religious Studies preferred
• 1 unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) required
• Experience in palliative/hospice care, home health or related organization experience preferred
• Experience in ministry leadership and/or counseling preferred
• Comfortable in an interfaith setting
• Ability to accept different lifestyles, cultures, beliefs, and values
• Ability to network with community clergy and congregations
• Proficient computer skills in Word, Excel, and Access all a plus
