Overview
The Bakery Hostess serves as the first point of contact for customers, providing a warm, welcoming atmosphere and exceptional service. This role involves greeting guests, assisting with orders, managing the front counter, and ensuring the overall cleanliness and organization of the bakery’s customer-facing areas. The hostess plays a key part in creating a positive customer experience, supporting smooth daily operations, and promoting the bakery’s offerings.

Duties

• Greeting Customers:
• Refill coffee stations, utensils, or napkin dispensers.
• Help with closing duties like sweeping or organizing the display case.
• Experience
• Warmly welcome customers as they enter.
• Provide a friendly and inviting first impression.
• Seating Guests (if applicable):
• If the bakery has a dine-in area, show customers to their tables.
• Manage the waitlist during busy times.
• Taking Orders (if front-of-house role includes this):
• Assist customers with the menu or bakery items.
• Answer questions about ingredients, allergens, or recommendations.
• Managing the Front Counter:
• Ensure the display case is clean and stocked.
• Help with wrapping baked goods or packaging to-go orders.
• Maintaining Cleanliness:
• Keep the front area neat and tidy.
• Wipe down counters, seating areas, and entryways.
• Operating the POS System:
• Handle transactions accurately.
• Process cash, card, or app-based payments.
• Promoting Specials or New Items:
• Inform customers about new pastries, seasonal specials, or promotions.
• Handling Customer Feedback:
• Address questions, concerns, or complaints politely.
• Pass on feedback to the manager or baker as needed.
• Managing the Flow of the Store:
• Monitor how busy the bakery is and help with smooth transitions.
• Support communication between the kitchen and front staff.
• Supporting Light Side Duties:
• Previous experience in a bakery or food service environment is preferred.
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to engage positively with guests..

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
