POSITION SUMMARY:
- As an Accounting Specialist you will play an important role in managing financial transactions, ensuring accuracy in accounts payable and overseeing payroll processes. Your responsibilities will directly support the financial integrity of the organization. This role requires precision, organizational and attention to detail.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for full accounts payable process (review of invoices, internal approvals, entering bills into QuickBooks, printing and mailing checks, filing paid invoices, vendor communications and interface)
- Responsible for managing the billing process and input/ submission of billing to Community Mental Health organizations for reimbursement. Requires attention to detail, good communication skills to work with home managers and Community Mental Health about authorization and billing issues, and patience and persistence to follow through with difficult billing issues.
- Support for balancing database records with financial records for donations and special events – requires attention to detail
- Prepare weekly bank deposit, and post deposits to Quickbooks
- Responsible for bi-weekly payroll including garnishments, loans, etc.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Controller or Director of Human Resources
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education:
- Required: High school diploma or GED
- Preferred: Associate's Degree in related field
- Experience:
- Required: 3 – 4 years of relevant experience
- Required: Proven experience in accounts payable, payroll management, or related financial roles.
- Required: Excellent organizational skills, detail oriented, and able to communicate clearly and effectively
- Preferred: Proficiency in QuickBooks and Paycor
- Preferred: Knowledge of government reimbursements
- Other Requirements:
- Must pass physical, drug screen, TB test (paid by Angels' Place)
- Must pass Michigan State Police and FBI fingerprint criminal history background check.
- Must possess a valid Michigan driver's license and maintain a responsible driving record
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Daily work in the Angels’ Place office (M-F 9a-5p). From time-to-time, may work in an Angels’ Place home or other community setting.
