SUMMARY: The primary purpose of the position is to ensure the highest quality of resident care available, support staff and establish a positive reputation in the community while delivering on the Eduro HealthCare Values of wellness, compassion, customer experience and company results. This position is responsible for maintaining the facility and coordinating maintenance assistants.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Adherence to Policies

Administrative Duties

Complete paperwork requirements on schedule and in an accurate, appropriate manner with attention to detail.

Focus the combined expertise and effort of all the committees, consultants, physicians, other professionals and staff to ensure maximum quality of environment, medical treatment, comfort, dignity and life for each resident.
MAINTENANCE DUTIES include
The primary purpose of your position is to perform the day-to-day activities of the Maintenance Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations governing the facility, and as may be directed by the Administrator, to assure that the facility is maintained in a safe and comfortable manner.
Assume the authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary to carry out the assigned duties.
Follow the facility's written maintenance program to both prevent and correct problems of the facility in maintaining appliances, equipment, etc.
Maintain all floors, walls, wall coverings, ceilings, etc. Always keep the facility in excellent repair.
Identify problems and report them appropriately.
Take responsibility for all phases of grounds keeping, including: lawn care, weed control, planting, cleaning of parking lots, etc.
Maintain care and use of supplies, equipment, etc. and maintain the appearance of work areas.
Ensure that all driveways, parking areas, walks, and stairs are kept free from ice and snow. (Parking lot snow removal may be contracted by a snow removal service.)
Perform regular inspections of resident rooms, halls and common areas for order, safety and any repairs that may be required.
Take care of special requests from residents promptly.
Use safety precautions when performing tasks and when using equipment and supplies.
Assure that established Infection Control and Universal Precautions practices are maintained when performing maintenance procedures.
Must work with a variety of chemicals, hazardous or flammable materials, and must be aware of their use and their possible reactions.
Run errands for parts, supplies, or equipment.
Patient Care
Be personally involved with all aspects of resident care to the extent necessary to assess its quality.
Respect all resident rights, including the confidentiality of resident care information.
Report immediately to the proper legal authorities if you have reason to believe a resident has been physically, emotionally, or sexually abused, or been a victim of theft of their personal property.
Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, cheerfulness, enthusiasm, and love, giving the resident the quality of service you would want to receive personally. Reflect the four core values of Eduro HealthCare.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience
Sufficient knowledge and experience in long-term care
High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Language Skills
Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to perform required duties.
Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions in English.
Bi-lingual skills welcome
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Completion of orientation required by company policy.
Health screening and TB test (if required) within two weeks of employment.
Mandatory drug upon hire.
Must be free of criminal activity proven by a criminal background check.
Become familiar with and comply to all local, state, and federal regulations relating to the job.
Show within three (3) days of hire satisfactory evidence of identity and eligibility for employment.
Must have valid drivers license
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
Frequently move about the facility and transport maintenance equipment and other supplies up to 80 pounds.
Must be able to rapidly assist in the evacuation of all residents from the building in case of emergency.
Equipment
Must be able to use and operate the following equipment: all garden equipment (shovel, lawn mower, hoe, rake, grass trimmer, hand tools, etc.), snow removal tools and equipment (snow blower, shovel, etc.), carpenter tools and equipment (saws, sander, wrench, etc.), plumbing tools and equipment, painting tools and equipment, electrical tools and equipment, all heating and cooling tools and equipment (boiler, furnace, water heater, air conditioning units, etc.), housekeeping tools and equipment, appliance repair tools and equipment, general maintenance tools, van, truck, ladder, etc.
Work Environment
Must possess the ability to work in a wet or humid environment
Must be able to work "on call" (return to the care center at unscheduled hours and be available by phone, if needed, to solve problems).
Must be very flexible and willing to cover shifts for other employees that are on vacation, sick, etc. Shift work will be required and extended day work and occasional evening work may be required.
Must be willing to work holidays and on weekends.
Must be able and willing to work around body fluids, excretions, extreme odors, etc., while using universal precautions.
Must work with a variety of chemicals and must be aware of their use and possible reactions. Always follow the directions on the label.
May be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including the Aids and Hepatitis B viruses.
Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and, at times, hostile people within the facility.
