Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic General Manager to help lead our airport snow removal operations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in management and airfield management and demonstrate exceptional leadership skills. This role requires a passion for the aviation industry, a commitment to maintaining high standards of safety. The General Manager will oversee daily operations, manage staff, and ensure compliance with airfield rules and FAA regulations while ensuring 100% uptime on heavy equipment. The General Manager should possess light mechanical skills and the ability to diagnose, order parts for and repair heavy equipment including but not limited to: Oshkosh snow removal equipment, CAT loaders, and snow melters.
Responsibilities/Pre-qualifications
- Oversee and manage the office staff to ensure appropriate staffing levels during snow removal operation.
- Proven experience in managing snow removal operations or similar large-scale logistical operations.
- Strong background in managing office staff, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Experience with software management, preferably with proprietary or custom operational software.
- Knowledge of heavy equipment maintenance, repairs, and best practices for preventing equipment failure.
- Ability to quickly and efficiently respond to emergencies, demonstrating strong leadership and crisis management skills.
- Hands-on experience with field repairs and maintenance of heavy equipment and trucks.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a diverse team of operational and maintenance staff in a fast-paced, weather-dependent environment.
- Manage proprietary staffing and snow management software, ensuring its effective utilization and updates.
- Order and maintain inventory of parts and supplies necessary for snow removal operations, maintaining stock levels for emergency situations.
- Oversee maintenance and repair schedules of heavy equipment and trucks to ensure peak performance and reduce risk of breakdowns during operations.
- Act as the primary point of contact for emergency responses, demonstrating an ability to quickly assess and efficiently manage staff, equipment, and logistical needs.
- Ensure all staff members are trained and capable of meeting operational goals during adverse weather conditions.
- Perform field repairs on heavy equipment and trucks as necessary, minimizing operational downtime.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of heavy equipment maintenance and operation, including loaders, trucks, and other key machinery used in snow removal.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.00 - $50.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 60 per week
