Animal Intake and Adoption Coordinator
Full-Time / 40 hours/week
Reports To : Operations Manager
Job Overview
The Animal Intake and Adoptions Coordinator is responsible for all intakes, initial placements and adoptions of dogs, puppies, cats and kittens in the AARF program, according to all AARF protocols, practices and policies. We are seeking someone that has a passion for animal welfare and a desire to grow within the field.
Responsibilities and Duties
· Receives and responds to all non-emergency dog, puppy, cat and kitten intake requests that come in via phone, email, or on social media.
· Works with medical staff, Volunteer & Foster Coordinator, Animal Welfare Coordinator, and/or Operations Manager in receiving and responding to all emergency dog, puppy, cat and kitten intake requests
· Compiles all surrender forms and intake requests, including photos in preparation for weekly intake meetings. Leads the dog intake and cat intake meetings.
· Manages all follow up about intake decisions and next steps; maintains records.
· Works with Volunteer and Foster Coordinator for placement of AARF dogs/puppies and cats / kittens in foster homes; works with Volunteer and Foster Coordinator to obtain photos, videos, bios and updates on all dogs/puppies and cats/kittens, as needed.
· Works with other staff to ensure use of social media to promote dogs and puppies, and cats and kittens that are available for adoption and to celebrate adoptions of dogs/puppies and cats/kittens.
· Receives, reviews and follows up on adoption applications within 48-72 hours.
· Works with Adoption Team Members / Volunteers to process and decide on all adoption applications; maintains documentation.
· Responsible for finalizing cat and dog adoptions and transfer of animals to adoptees, taking adoption photos and posting them to AARF’s social media accounts, as appropriate and needed.
· Works with the Animal Welfare Coordinator to schedule the spay or neuter surgery of all animals adopted out prior to surgery.
· Leads Saturday adoption fairs at the AARF House, coordinating with other staff and volunteers to ensure the adoption fairs run smoothly.
· Finds opportunities for offsite adoption events and coordinates the events with the support of other staff and volunteers.
· Conducts home visits for approved dog applicants or supports trained fosters/volunteers in conducting home visits
· Maintains accurate, complete and timely documentation and records in ShelterLuv, Volgistics, on Petfinder, AARF website and all AARF social media accounts, as well as other records and documentation as needed and required.
· Coordinates with the Operations Manager, ways to improve and enhance the intake and adoption processes.
· Collaborates with the Operations Manager to schedule and implement creative adoption promotions.
· Other duties as assigned

- Proficiency with Google Suite
Preferences
- Proficiency with Shelterluv
- Fear Free trained and certified.
- Strong Leadership skills and capabilities
- At least 2 years of relevant experience
Qualifications
- High School Diploma Required, Associate’s Degree or higher preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of standing.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk with a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times, including assembly of animal crates and carriers.
- Exposure to cats/kittens and dogs/puppies

Pay: From $17.00 per hour
