POSITION DESCRIPTION
Title: Associate Veterinary Technician in Stockbridge, MI
POSITION SUMMARY
Under the general direction of the Director of Veterinary Services, the associate veterinary technician will perform a variety of tasks necessary for the health and welfare of canine and feline donors. This position reports directly to the Director of Veterinary Services/Attending Veterinarian (AV) and in his/her absence, reports to the Director of Animal Welfare. Day to day activities may be supervised by a senior veterinary technician.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Hours are full time M-F unless otherwise arranged
Daily rounds to each building checking on all animals (visual) and address veterinary concerns
Daily exam of animals on treatment and document such in electronic medical record
Maintain inventory of medical supplies/pharmaceuticals to ensure no expired products and adequate inventory
Upkeep of electronic and where needed paper medical records
Anesthesia and other medical equipment maintenance
Surgical packs/supplies
Dentals- assist/perform
All preventive care
Keeping treatment areas organized, clean and stocked
All donor prep and donation support
Prepare medical records for adopted animals
Other tasks as assigned
Perform anesthesia/monitor anesthesia for surgical procedures
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
CVT/LVT/RVT with active licensure in one state
Alternative to veterinary licensure is minimally three (3) years of dog/cat private practice or equivalent, e.g. research setting with dogs and cats
Ability to properly lift and/or carry 50 pounds without injury
Reliable transportation and ability to flex work hours as necessary to fulfill job requirements
Weekend and holiday on call and care of animals requiring medical care or assessment
