Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Animal Caretaker to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of animal needs and a passion for providing exceptional care to a variety of animals. This role involves working in a dynamic environment, ensuring the health and well-being of animals under our care, and supporting veterinary staff as needed.
Duties
- Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, cleaning, and exercising.
- Greet and welcome visitors in a professional and friendly manner.
- Review patient health and vaccine records for boarding requirements.
- Monitor the health and behavior of animals, reporting any concerns to veterinary staff.
- Assist in administering medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians or veterinary technicians.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization within animal housing areas, including kennels and enclosures.
- Handle animals safely and effectively, demonstrating proper dog handling techniques and equine care when applicable.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to handle difficult situations with professionalism.
Experience
- Previous experience in animal care or working in a kennel or grooming shop will be advantageous.
- Experience with various animal species, including dogs and cats, is highly valued.
- Being comfortable with computer input and familiar with internet-based programs is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team are essential.
