Schedule: Wednesday - Sunday, 5:00 PM – 3:00 AM

We are seeking an Emergency Veterinary Technician/Assistant for our busy ER department. In this role, you will be integral to our team, assisting veterinarians and technicians in providing high-quality, emergency veterinary care. You will have the chance to use your expertise in emergency medicine while continuing to learn and grow alongside a highly skilled and passionate team.
Key Responsibilities
As an Emergency Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant, you will work alongside experienced emergency veterinarians and technicians to provide care for critically ill or injured animals. Your duties will include but are not limited to:
- Emergency Case Management:
- Assisting veterinarians and technicians with emergency cases and urgent procedures.
- Managing a high-volume caseload with efficiency and attention to detail.
- Diagnostic Support:
- Performing in-house diagnostics, including radiographs, urinalysis, bloodwork, fecals, and cytology.
- Helping process lab samples and communicating results to the medical team promptly.
- Patient Care:
- Administering medications via IV, SQ, IM, and PO routes.
- Placing intravenous catheters and ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Monitoring vital signs and assisting with sedated procedures like laceration repairs.
- Assisting with the care of hospitalized patients, including ICU-level care when necessary.
- Client Communication and Education:
- Providing excellent client service by explaining treatments and procedures clearly and empathetically.
- Educating pet owners on emergency procedures, follow-up care, and best practices.
- Hospital Maintenance:
- Cleaning and restocking supplies as needed to ensure smooth operations.
- Assisting with facility management to maintain a clean and organized work environment.
We are looking for candidates who have:
- At least 2 years of clinical experience in a veterinary setting (emergency experience preferred, but not required).
- Exceptional technical skills: Experience in placing IV catheters, drawing blood, and performing diagnostics such as radiographs and bloodwork.
- Strong work ethic: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and remain calm under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills: Ability to clearly communicate with both clients and the team.
- A positive, proactive attitude: A willingness to learn new techniques, improve your skills, and be an integral part of the team.
- Compassion and empathy for both pets and their owners in high-stress situations.
- Flexibility: Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as our 24-hour facility is always open.
