What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinary Assistant/Veterinary Technician position at Animal Health Care Veterinary Hospital?
At Animal Health Care Veterinary Hospital are a little bit different, and we quite like it that way! We can’t control all of the problems in veterinary medicine, but we can attempt to create an environment of what we want and need as a profession.

Who are we looking for?
· Loving animals most of us in this profession find easy. Loving people can sometimes more challenging, so applicants must enjoy working with and educating clients. Our technicians are close liaisons between the client and the veterinarian, and they create trusted bonds with their cases.
· Our team culture fit is just as important, if not more, than the skill level. We can train skills; however, we can’t often train work ethic, integrity, accountability, collaboration, communication, and soft skills.
· CVT Licensure is ideal but not required.
Hours:
· Our office hours are Monday – Friday.
· Hours range from 7:10am to 5:30pm.
· No nights, weekends, holidays, or on-call.
· Our full-time technicians are offered 4 days a week, 9 -10 hour shifts.
Expectations:
· We take pride in using our credentialed technicians to their full potential.
· Our technicians lead, direct and follow through with cases in collaboration with the veterinarian.
· Develop skills within exam room education, preventative medicine, surgery, anesthesia, dentistry, radiology.
· Technology/computer savvy.
· Strong communication skills are essential.
Wage:
· Dependent upon previous veterinary experience, the ability to handle caseload and duties independently and efficiently. We typically start at $21-$25 during the introductory period to train to determine still levels. Once the skill level is established, discussion of wage adjustments can be assessed.
· We implement a Pay Wage Level system to help employees have a clear path of skills/duties needed to move up to the next wage level.
Don't judge a book by its cover. Our building unfortunately lacks some curb appeal. HOWEVER, our focus has been spent creating a warm and safe environment on the inside. Quality equipment, staff, training, benefits, and products are more important to us than curb appeal when tough financial choices need to be made. The outside curb appeal will continue to be worked on over time; we want our priority to be staff, clients, and staff.
