Job Title: Veterinary Assistant
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Veterinary Assistant to join our team. We are a multi-location practice with 16 doctors. Each of our doctors have their own assistant. This allows you and the doctor to form a cohesive and effective team.
You would work 4 week days 7:30 am to 6:00 pm and a rotating Saturday from 7:30 am to Noon. This position assists the doctors with exams, surgery, and dentals.
The ideal candidate will assist our veterinary staff in providing exceptional care to our animal patients and excellent service to their human caretakers. If you have a passion for working with animals and possess the necessary skills, we welcome you to apply.
Duties:
- Review vaccination records and prepare vaccines according to our vaccine protocol.
- Assist veterinarian in medical procedures using proper restraint.
- Assist veterinarian in surgical procedures using proper aseptic technique.
- Maintain and use medical equipment, laboratory equipment and autoclave.
- Perform routine laboratory procedures and analyses in hematology, cytology, and urinalysis.
- Monitor patients under anesthesia.
- Take vital signs of animals including temperature, pulse, and respiration.
- Complete ear cleanings and nail trims.
- Clean maintain and sterilize instruments and equipment.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a veterinary assistant or similar role preferred
- Proficiency in animal physiology and behavior
- Knowledge of animal handling techniques and safety protocols
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills and a compassionate attitude towards animals
- Certification as a veterinary assistant is a plus
