What are the responsibilities and job description for the Marketing Communications Specialist position at ANIMAL PROTECTIVE FOUNDATION OF SCHENECTADY INC?
The Marketing Communication Specialist (MCS) will be responsible for crafting, editing, and distributing content that engages and inspires APFs stakeholders and prospective donors and clients through social media posts, newspaper columns, press releases, e-blasts, newsletters and the APF website. The MCS also shares responsibility for content and maintenance support for the APFwebsite. The MCS reports to the Director of Development (DoD), and will collaborate closely with administration, development, shelter, and clinic staff. The MCS will work approximately 20 hours a week. Rate of pay is up to $23/hour.
Marketing
- Works with staff to develop and implement strategic communication plans to achieve the APFs goals and mission.
- Maintains the organizations communication calendar.
- Drafts and proposes communications campaigns, which may include social and online media, print, direct mail, and other multimedia.
- Gather stories and photos of APF shelter pets and programs.
- Create basic collateral as needed.
Social Media
- Oversee social media accounts on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and LinkedIn and maintain a social media calendar.
- Generate quality content by taking photos and videos of shelter pets and other APF programs
Website
- Content development and website updates as needed, working with our vendor that hosts the website.
Other
- Meet regularly with DoD and others to ensure organizational needs are being met.
- Attend events and activities as necessary.
- Assist in developing essential standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to brand and social media integrity.
- Other duties as assigned
Required:
- 2 years of successful marketing, publications, or a related field required.
- Excellent project management skills: ability to organize, determine priorities, and follow through promptly; ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and priorities to meet timelines and deadlines.
- Prior experience managing website content.
- Excellent proofreading skills with keen attention to detail.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- High level of discretion.
