To advance the mission and programs of the Animal Rescue League of Iowa (ARL) by performing routine animal care, enrichment, facility cleaning, and related duties.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Provide daily care and enrichment for animals at ARL
- Responsible for regular cleaning of animal housing.
- Monitor animals and immediately report health, behavior, or temperament issues to medical staff, behavior staff, or supervisor, as necessary.
- Ensure timely data entry including integrity of data in shelter databases, such as Shelter Buddy.
- Participate in stress and disease reduction efforts through purposeful and compassionate handling of animals in shelter environment.
- Operate laundry, cleaning, dishwashing, and other equipment and report the need for repair or replacement, as appropriate.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED, required.
- 1 year of experience with animal handling, preferred.
- 1 year of work experience in customer service, preferred.
- Must be able to function in a fast-paced and stressful environment.
- Must possess excellent customer service, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills and be able to resolve conflict effectively.
- Ability to performance basic mathematical skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Work may expose employee to odors, diseases of animals that are possibly contagious, bites, scratches, animal waste, and moderate noise level.
- Must be able to stand and sit for long periods of time.
