Title: Animal Flow Technician

Job Summary
To advance the mission and programs of the Animal Rescue League of Iowa (ARL) by performing routine animal movements, transfer preparations, transport between ARL facilities, and other related duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Handle, restrain and move, and transport animals throughout and between ARL facilities, as directed.
- Participate in stress and disease reduction efforts through purposeful and compassionate handling and placement of animals in the shelter environment.
- Be an advocate for the Animal Rescue League of Iowa; be familiar with policies and procedures to facilitate communication of correct information to the public and staff.
- Cultivate positive customer relations through professional, courteous, and educational interactions while actively promoting our mission, services, programs, and events.
- Communicate and collaborate with other departments to coordinate the movement of shelter animals.
- Monitor animals to report health, behavior, or temperament issues to medical staff, behavior staff, or supervisor, as appropriate.
- Provide feeding and care of animals, as needed.
- Operate laundry, cleaning, dishwashing, and other equipment.
- Maintain the general work areas and hallways.
- Responsible for accuracy of information entered in the animal sheltering database and maintain applicable person and animal records.

Education & Work Experience
- High School Diploma or GED, required.
- 1 year of experience in animal care and handling, highly preferred.
Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Must be able to function in a fast-paced and stressful environment.
- Must possess excellent customer service, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills and be able to resolve conflict effectively.
- Ability to performance basic mathematical skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Work may expose employee to odors, diseases of animals that are possibly contagious, bites, scratches, animal waste, and moderate noise level.
- Must be able to stand and sit for long periods of time.
At-Will Employment
There is no minimum period of employment guaranteed or implied by acceptance of an employment offer. It is the policy of the Animal Rescue League that employment for this position is at will, which means that employment is for no specific term and that employment may be terminated by the employee or the Animal Rescue League at any time without cause.
Part Time Weekends. Friday 10a-7p, Saturday and Sunday 9a-6p
