Job Profile:
Animal Samaritans, a 501c 3 non-profit animal welfare organization committed to improving the lives of animals and people is seeking flexible individual to fill the role of Animal Care Attendant.
Our Animal Care Attendant role works at our Animal Shelter in Thousand Palms, CA. These duties require being comfortable working with animals (Dogs and cats). Bathing, feeding , basic veterinry medical care, socialization and cleaning are some of the daily duites of this role.
Schedule:
Full-time Hours: 7:30 am - 5:30 PM Must be available Mon –Sun. Weekend availability is essential for this role.
Part-time Hours: Approximately 24-29 (Schedule may vary depending business needs, some overtime required at times and weekend work).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Monitors animals for signs of illness or injury; transports animals to the veterinarian; administers medication and vaccinations.

Scrapes, washes, disinfects, and dries kennel runs; cleans, changes, and disinfects room and cage linings.

Feeds and provides water for animals; bathes animals and performs related animal grooming and care; stocks animal food and shelter supplies.

Assists the public in claiming lost animals or selecting pets for adoption; counsels’ adoptive owners and processes appropriate paperwork; collects fees.

Maintains records and completes forms regarding the location, care, feeding, and disposition of shelter animals.

Performs other related duties as assigned to Off-site events.
Qualifications

Good communication skills, ability to follow direction, quick learner, and complete tasks in a timely manner.

HS Diploma of Equivalent Good with Cats and Dogs

Experience with animal care a plus

Ability to lift 50lbs without assistance. Ability to work with chemicals, such as bleach, ammonia and other disinfectants.

Valid California Driver’s License

Vehicle that you are willing to use for work purposes (IRS reimbursement will apply for company use of own vehicle)
