Job Summary
Responsible for maintaining and providing sterile instruments and supplies for surgery. Requires memorization skills and attention to detail. Must hold current sterile processing tech certification or obtain certification within 6 months of hire.
Reports to: Director of Surgical Services
Hourly range: $20.65 - $30.66 (posted hourly range excludes overtime and bonuses which are not guaranteed)
Essential Job Functions
· Responsible for sterile processing of instruments, equipment and supplies
· Collects, cleans, Inspects and reassembles instrument sets
· Knowledgeable and maintains competency in the cleaning and processing of sterile equipment, supplies and instruments
· Reviews operating room schedules, anticipating needs and/or conflicts with instrumentation or equipment
· Prepares items for sterilization based on knowledge of sterilization methods required for specific instruments/equipment.
· Properly identifies and delivers the correct items, in a timely fashion to appropriate areas including OR’s, procedure rooms or physician office locations if needed and requested.
· Prepares packs of supplies, instruments, dressing and treatment trays, according to designated lists or codes, and wraps, labels, and seals packs according to standards.
· Other job duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements
Education: High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent experience
Certification, Licensure: CSPDT or CRCST or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
Experience, Training, Knowledge: Two (2) to three (3) years' experience in a healthcare setting, preferred

Physical Requirements
Must be able to see in order to read, write, and perform clerical/secretarial job duties. Must be able to hear and speak in order to communicate with others in person and by telephone. Must have manual dexterity to use a computer keyboard and other usual office equipment. Light to moderate physical effort may be required to lift, push and pull carts.
Working Conditions/Environmental Exposures
Exposed to noxious fumes, gases, mists/dust, and poor ventilation; environmental hazards, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, needles, needle containers, sharps, blood, body fluids and/or tissues, electrical current/high voltage, chemicals/solvents, radiation and/or radioactive materials and/or radioactive waste, various infectious/communicable diseases, infectious medical waste that may require protective clothing/equipment.
ASH IMMUNIZATIONS AND VACCINATIONS REQUIREMENTS– Aligns with CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) for Healthcare Personnel
Hepatitis B- Lab evidence of immunity to Hepatitis B or three doses Hep B vaccine at appropriate intervals
Influenza- mandatory from November 1st through March 31st each year
Measles, Mumps, and Rubella - Lab evidence of immunity to Measles, Mumps, and Rubella or 2 doses of MMR Vaccination
Varicella (chickenpox) - Lab evidence of immunity to Varicella or 2 doses of Varicella Vaccine
Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis (Tdap) - documented proof of immunization
Tuberculosis Screening- All new-hires undergo a two-step TB skin test
