Quality Control Laboratory Technician

Position Overview

A motivated Individual who can assist the Director in QA & Regulatory in daily QC/Lab operations. As a part of the Quality Control Team, this person is self-driven, hardworking, team oriented, and able to work independently. The QC team is responsible for:

-         Ensuring Animix is producing high quality products

-         Meeting customer needs and specifications

-         Following government regulations

-         Testing products or materials independently and accurately by following Animix QC policies and procedures

-         Communicate effectively with customers, Customer Service and other Animix team members

Main Responsibilities

·        In accordance with Animix’s Quality Control Standard Operating Procedures, perform laboratory functions:

•    Perform daily double-check and accounting verification of medication inventory.
•    Participate in daily HACCP plan monitoring and report findings to Director of QA & Regulatory and working with plant personnel to ensure plant cleanliness, proper manufacturing, and storage of all raw material and finished products.
•    Collect and analyze all finished product samples from production as needed and use analytical findings to appropriately determine product’s readiness for shipment.
•    Sample and analyze all incoming raw materials (ingredients) as needed and use analytical findings to appropriately determine if ingredients will be released for further use or rejected.
•    Coordinate analytic testing and maintain records of routine testing by independent laboratories
•    Supply needed documents (COA’s, Specification Sheets, SDS, etc.) for shipping and customer needs.
•    Perform routine lab analysis using specific instruments.
•    Continuously update and organize lab related documents.

·        Assist with handling customer inquiries and maintaining all pertinent records.

·        Assist with establishing specifications for all new raw materials and finished products using Animix’s Quality Control Standard Operating Procedures.

·        Assist with maintaining specifications and SDS files for both raw and finished products.

·        Participate in Animix’s Product Development process; including producing laboratory samples and batches as required.

·        Follow all SOP’s, cGMP’s and HACCP guidelines and regulations.

 Complete other duties and tasks as assigned

Requirements:

·        Strong oral and written communication, managing and adhering to timelines, negotiation skills, integrity, and adaptability.

·        Reliability in schedule, time management, ability to multitask and manage interruptions.

·        Exceptional attention to detail.

Education and Work Experience 

·        Minimum - High school or equivalent

·        Associate’s or bachelor’s degree with science and/or quality emphasis (a plus)

·        Prior experience in feed manufacturing (preferred)

·        Prior experience in a lab environment, preferably in food or feed industry

·        Prior Quality Control Experience is highly regarded 

Specialized Knowledge/Skills

·        Basic computer skills

·        Basic MS Office (Outlook, WORD, Excel, PowerPoint)

·        Basic math skills 

Work Environment and Physical Demands

·        General office environment.

·        Work will sometimes be within an active production facility and a dusty environment.

·        Standing for multiple hours of a day may be possible.

·        Ability to lift 50 – 55 pounds as needed.

·        Ability to climb stairs, work at heights.

·        Ability to work with ingredients that are known food allergens.
