General Responsibilities:

As the Caregiver Lead, you will work with all caregivers. You will provide training, guidance and support. Your role will be to enhance the caregiver’s skills, knowledge, abilities, confidence, and job performance to support quality resident care delivery and services. You will lead and champion the customer service experience and the Company’s mission, values, foundational belief, leadership pledge and commitment to the collaborative team model. On call required one weekend per month.

Daily Duties:

  • Assist residents with personal comfort, grooming and personal hygiene when needed or per plan of care.
  • Assist residents in activities of daily living; encourage independence and appropriate self-care.
  • Provide a safe environment by minimizing health and safety risks for residents throughout the entire building.
  • Assist residents with transfers per plan of care (gait belts, chair/bed alarms, etc.)
  • Accompany residents to activities out of the facility such as; appointments and recreational activities.
  • Collect specimens as ordered by physicians.
  • Immediately report to the manager/nurse any emergency needs of the resident.
  • Ensure record keeping of all services in the resident's progress notes, care plan log and other occurrences or issues such as; behavior tracking log, incident report, food log, etc.
  • Answer phone professionally and relay proper message to resident, employee or other contact. This includes writing the date, taking a name, phone number and a message of what call was regarding.
  • Provide social interaction with residents and encourage and assist them with participation in social activities.
  • Provide a home-like atmosphere for all residents.
  • Required to assist residents in emergencies, fire, tornado, drills, etc.
  • Required to call the appropriate department in cases of emergency; 911, EMTs, fire department, local police department, management, nurse.
  • Serve meals, assist with clean up and provide snacks. Follow physician's orders for diet modifications/restrictions.
  • Administer and properly document authorized medications and/or treatnents to residents under the supervision of nurse.
  • Perform various tasks as instructed such as; taking vital signs, getting weights
  • Perform various housekeeping duties such as laundry assigned on task duty sheet and as requested by management.
  • Clean, maintain and organize resident's rooms.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in senior care or working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred.
  • Knowledge of long-term care principles and practices is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with care plans and the ability to implement them effectively.
  • Understanding of group home settings and the unique needs of residents.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with clients and their families.
  • Basic knowledge of first aid procedures; certification is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating reliability and professionalism.
  • A background in social work or nursing is advantageous but not required.
