After a successful phase 1 study, our lead drug candidate is expected to begin phase 2 clinical trials for neurodegenerative disease in mid-2025. Preclinical work is ongoing in multiple disease areas.

About the Job :

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Financial Controller to oversee and manage all aspects of financial reporting, accounting, and compliance. As a key member of the finance team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate financial operations, maintaining internal controls, and supporting the strategic decision-making process as the company expands.

Responsibilities :

F inancial Reporting :

  • Oversee preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP or IFRS, as applicable.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting to the executive team, investors, and other stakeholders.
  • Prepare and manage financial forecasts and budgets, providing insights and recommendations for improvements.

Accounting & Compliance :

  • Lead day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, tax filings, and other statutory obligations.
  • Oversee external audits and manage the relationship with auditors.
  • Cash Flow Management :

  • Monitor and manage company cash flow, working capital, and liquidity.
  • Develop strategies to optimize cash flow, ensuring the company’s financial stability and ability to fund growth initiatives.
  • Internal Controls & Process Improvement :

  • Implement and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial accuracy.
  • Continuously review and improve financial systems, processes, and reporting mechanisms to streamline operations and enhance efficiency.
  • Strategic Financial Planning :

  • Partner with the executive team to drive financial planning and analysis (FP&A), identifying key performance metrics and supporting business strategies.
  • Provide financial insights for strategic decision-making, including fundraising, product development, and expansion plans.
  • Investor Relations :

  • Support investor relations and assist in preparation of investor reports and presentations.
  • Work with the CFO to communicate financial performance and outlook to current and potential investors.
  • Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA, CMA, or equivalent professional certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting / finance experience, with at least 2 years in a financial controller or senior accounting role, ideally in a start-up or biotech environment.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP, SEC regulations, and SOX compliance requirements.
  • Experience with financial reporting, modeling, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Public accounting experience and experience with SEC reporting is highly preferred.

  • Proven ability to manage complex financial transactions and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Strong proficiency in financial software and ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, or similar) and financial reporting tools.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic start-up environment with a hands-on approach.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment.
