What are the responsibilities and job description for the Structural Engineer position at Anka Space?
We are seeking a Structural Engineer to lead the design, analysis, and testing of the rocket’s structural components. This includes ensuring the rocket frame, bulkheads, tanks, and aerodynamic forces experienced during flight. The ideal candidate has experience in aerospace structures, material selection, and FEA simulations to optimize weight and strength for maximum performance.
Responsibilities
- Rocket Frame & Structural Design: Develop lightweight, high-strength aerospace structures using aluminum, titanium, or composites.
- Load & Vibration Analysis: Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to evaluate structural integrity.
- Material Selection & Manufacturing: Work with CNC machining, welding, and composite fabrication techniques for aerospace components.
- Landing System Reinforcement: Ensure shock absorption and impact resistance for vertical landing operations.
- Thermal & Stress Analysis: Model thermal expansion and stress concentrations to prevent structural failures.
- Testing & Validation: Develop physical test plans to validate structural performance before flight.
- Collaboration with Propulsion & Mechanical Teams: Ensure seamless integration between structure, propulsion, and avionics systems.
Qualifications
- Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Structural Engineering.
- Experience designing aerospace structures and load-bearing components.
- Expertise in FEA software (Ansys, Abaqus, NASTRAN, or equivalent).
- Understanding of aerospace materials (Aluminum 6061-T6, Carbon Fiber Composites, Titanium).
- Experience with welding, CNC machining, and lightweight aerospace structures.
