High School Drama Advisor
Purpose Statement
The High School Drama Advisor is responsible for all drama events for the applicable high school. The Advisor's main duties include: selecting appropriate shows (one musical and one play per year); audition, cast, and rehearse students; develop and construct technical elements of productions; order supplies; and oversee the entirety of the department.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Previous experience directing a play, preferred.
- Strong content knowledge of producing a play from start to finish.
- Strong knowledge of dramatic techniques and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively lead, instruct, and supervise students and staff.
- Ability to work under pressure and remain calm.
- Proficient in organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Essential Functions
- Choose, order, and pay for scripts
- Audition, cast, and rehearse with students
- Set production and rehearsal schedules
- Block the play
- Design and build set(s) or arrange for a set designer
- Provide costumes and props
- Determine appropriate hair and makeup plans
- Run/organize work sessions with students
- Assign students to run various crews and supervise their work
- Approve print and digital advertising materials and disperse as appropriate
- Implement appropriate ticketing methods
- Coordinate with activities secretary to order cash, arrange for ticket sellers, determine administrative support, and support ticket sales prior to all shows
- Order needed supplies (lumber, paint, make-up, fabric, costumes)
- Organize program information
- Design and hang lighting for different shows or arrange for a lighting designer
- Choreograph musicals or arrange for a choreographer
- Budget for all production costs

The usual and customary methods of performing the position functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, reaching, driving, standing and walking. Working conditions may include extreme temperatures and humidity. Hazards may include exposure to communicable diseases. This position requires one to maintain emotional control under stress. Successful candidates are subject to post-offer pre-employment physical.
Responsibility
Responsibilities include: working independently under broad organizational guidelines to achieve unit objectives.
