Student Teacher
Purpose Statement
Student Teachers are representatives of their college or university and are guests in our district . The student teacher is both a learner and a teacher . The district partnership provides a platform for the student teacher to grow and develop in their professional capacity, while exercising some level of independence as an up and coming professional.
Essential Functions
Curriculum & Instruction :
- Become familiar with the Ankeny Community School District board approved curriculum.
- Compose and implement unit and daily lesson plans that align to the curriculum.
- Assess student progress to address the learning needs of students and its impact on instruction.
- Prepare materials, as assigned by mentor(s) to support the student-learning environment.

The usual and customary methods of performing the position functions require the following physical demands : significant lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, reaching, driving, standing and walking. Working conditions may include extreme temperatures and humidity. Hazards may include exposure to communicable diseases. This position requires one to maintain emotional control under stress.
Responsibility
Responsibilities include working under limited supervision using standardized practices and / or methods. Utilization of some resources from other work units is often required to perform position functions. There is some opportunity to significantly impact the organization's services.
