- Possession of current, valid licensing or certification as it applies to this position
- Certification in the appropriate level and subject is required for teachers
- Dual or multiple certifications for teachers is preferred
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Current First Aid / CPR and Lifeguard Certification required
- High School Diploma or GED
- Experience in lifeguarding and/or aquatic activities desired
- Maintains constant surveillance in the facility; acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of students in the event of emergency
- Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medial services (EMS)
- Presents professional appearance and attitude at all times
- Maintains high standard of customer service
- Performs various maintenance duties as directed to maintain clean and safe facility
- Support physical education teacher as needed during instruction
- Perform miscellaneous job related duties as assigned
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of staff, students, and parents
- Ability to effectively communicate rules and regulations
- Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s
- Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions given in written, oral, or diagram form
- Work with parents and children of diverse cultural backgrounds
- Develop effective working relationships with students, staff, and the school community
- Perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies

Summary
Responsible for the safety and well-being of adaptive physical education students under assigned supervision in the pool area. Responsible for enforcing established pool rules and regulations.
