- Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, education, recreation, or related field.
- Five or more years of experience managing budgets of at least $1 million
- Three or more years of providing operational oversight for facilities, software programs, and/or other operations
- Three or more years of experience leading teams and supervising multiple staff.

- Work with key Rec & Ed and AAPS finance department staff to create, monitor, problem solve, and report on Rec & Ed’s annual budget.
- Lead internal budget/finance committee that monitors and recommends action on the budget
- Ensure compliance with school district and department financial policies and processes
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial documents and reports.
- Provide training and support to new and continuing staff regarding district and department financial procedures
- Directly supervise 4-5 operations staff within Administrative Division
- Provide guidance and support to Rec & Ed divisions in financial and operational matters.
- Develop survey/feedback systems as needed
- Implement process improvements and streamline operations across various departments.
- Collaborate with the Director and operations staff to oversee the Facility Rental Program (reservations and rentals of elementary and middle school facilities during non-school hours)
- Oversee the Rec & Ed seasonal gym rental program and the rental of City of Ann Arbor ball diamonds.
- Collaborate regularly with district Physical Properties, City of Ann Arbor Parks Department, and other entities.
- Problem-solve facility use for Rec & Ed programs as needed.
- Serve as department lead and liaison to Rec & Ed’s registration software companies.
- Work with the Director to provide staff training for and monitoring of current software programs
- Assist in planning, decision-making, and problem solving related to software programs
- Actively participate on the Rec & Ed management team, including problem solving, decision making, and planning.
- Participate on department committees as needed/assigned
- Comply with department and district policies and procedures
- Collaborate with other Rec & Ed divisions and all levels of school personnel

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Finance and Operations Manager oversees efficient financial and operational processes, enabling Rec & Ed to effectively fulfill its mission of serving both the school district and the broader community. The Manager’s scope of responsibilities includes financial monitoring, reporting, and planning of the department’s annual budget and oversight of operations such as facility rentals and department software systems. The Manager supervises four operations staff in the Administrative area of Rec & Ed. As a member of the Rec & Ed Management Team, the Assistant Director collaborates closely with the Director, Executive Director, and program managers.
