POSITION TITLE: School Social Worker
FTE: 0.5 FTE
Position Location: Ann Arbor Open at Mack
SALARY: Teacher's Salary Schedule
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Office of Special Education
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactory. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Master's degree from a graduate school of social work program
Minimum of a 500-clock hour supervised social work practicum
Satisfactory completion of 1 year as a school social worker with direction from a fully approved school social worker
Experience working with elementary students required
Interdisciplinary teaming experience desired
Experience working with students with autism, desired
Functional analysis and behavior plan development experience desired
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Licensed Master's Social Worker through the State of Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform casework service with individual students to correct those personal, social or emotional maladjustments related to their educational and social progress.
Consult and collaborate with other school personnel in gathering and giving information on a case, and in establishing and planning for respective roles in the modification of the student's behavior.
Perform casework service with parents as an integral part of the task of helping students, to increase the parents' understanding, their constructive participation in resolving their child's problems and their knowledge and use of appropriate resources available.
Assist students directly toward adjustment to school.
Regular and reliable attendance.
Other related duties as assigned.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Read, write and comprehend basic instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to staff, parents, students and
administrators.
Communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Add, subtract, and multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY:
Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Work with parents and children of diverse cultural backgrounds.
Develop effective working relationships with students, staff, and the school community.
Perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by
