POSITION TITLE: Elementary Vocal Music Teacher
FTE: 1.0
POSITION LOCATION: Ann Arbor Open @ Mack
SALARY: Teacher's Salary Schedule
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Principal
**Interview process will include singing, sight reading, playing the piano, and teaching a short music lesson to a small choral ensemble**
QUALIFICATIONS:

The following is a list of qualifications for the position, any one of which may be waived by the Board in exercising its prerogative to determine qualifications.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Possess a valid Michigan teaching certificate with an endorsement (JX) in K-8 music
Possess a Bachelors Degree with a major in vocal or instrumental music (Masters Degree preferred)
Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with students, faculty, administrators, peers, parents and the Ann Arbor community
Active involvement in professional music association(s) desired
Ability to use technology for instructional and management purposes desired
Proof of COVID vaccination required
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teach district approved curriculum.
Develop lessons and instructional material to provide instruction to adapt to the curriculum needs of each pupil.
Communicate regularly with parents outside normal classroom day by various communication means.
Provide performing opportunities for students in concerts and assembly formats.
Keep appropriate records and prepare progress reports.
Serve on committees to promote music in the school as well as the community
Other duties as assigned
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Read, analyze, and interpret periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Effectively present information in written and oral form. Speak clearly and concisely in written or oral communication.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY:
Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program; ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents and community.

The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
