Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. The Associate Director of Biostatistics will partner with statistical stakeholders across the institution on cutting-edge bio-behavioral health and epidemiological data, developing collaborative relationships within and outside the Stanley Manne Research Institute and managing statistical analysts, masters and PhD level statisticians, contractors, and students. The Associate Director manages the implementation of statistical protocols, development of strategic goals, and providing support across the four (4) pillars of the research institute. This position will work collaboratively with scientific directors and operations within Quantitative Science under the direction of the Director of Operations for Quantitative Science and the Chief Research Informatics Officer (CRIO) of the Stanley Manne Children’s Research Institute.Essential Job Functions : Oversee biostatistics personnel management, project management and develop and implement effective strategies, monitor progress, ensure quality, and make adjustments as necessary.Collaborate across teams and contribute to statistical protocol development, statistical analysis planning, interpretation of results, and preparation of regulatory submissions.Provide supervision, technical guidance, and mentorship to statisticians, and lead regular meetings with research staff and statisticians to discuss proposed analyses, share code and analytic approaches, and discuss data and / or methodological challenges as they arise.Work with Principal Investigators (PIs) to identify appropriate statistical methods to address research hypotheses and conduct statistical analyses, including expertise with power calculations and proposed analytic strategies for new grant proposals accordingly.Oversee the creation of analytic datasets by merging, cleaning, and coding data from multiple sources, including behavioral surveys, electronic health records, and public health surveillance.Present results of statistical analyses to researchers, colleagues, and funders, including formal presentations at conferencesSupport staff development by facilitating workshops, trainings, and continuing education activities.Advise staff or faculty members in project creation and implementation by applying principals of data science in manipulation, statistical applications, programming, analysis and modeling.The authority to hire, separate, promote, demote, write and administer performance evaluations.Other job functions as assigned.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities : Doctoral degree in biostatistics, epidemiology or healthcare-related statistics required.Five (5) years of experience in biostatistics, epidemiology, health services research, econometrics, OR psychometrics within healthcare required.Demonstrated expertise in supervising master’s trained statisticians, junior medical faculty, residents, or fellows, and with teaching complex methodologies required.Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, including ability to communicate results from complex statistical analyses to a non-technical audience, and experience in grant writing and writing for academic literature.A minimum of five (5) years of experience programming SAS statistical software (or equivalent), including at least one (1) year of experience writing SQL queries and implementing basic techniques to improve efficiency.Ability to work effectively with internal, cross-functional, and external study teams to meet project timelines.Project management skills required.Prior experience extracting or analyzing Epic electronic medical record data preferred.Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and as a team.Ability to collaborate with colleagues from diverse academic and professional backgrounds.EducationMD / DOPay Range$119,600.00-$193,440.00 SalaryAt Lurie Children’s, we are committed to competitive and fair compensation aligned with market rates and internal equity, reflecting individual contributions, experience, and expertise. The pay range for this job indicates minimum and maximum targets for the position .
